Campus Space

Overview
The Office of Capital Planning and Project Management’s Facility Information Management section maintains an accurate record of campus space, facilities and supporting infrastructure. It provides relevant facilities-related information for issues concerning space management, allocation, and utilization. The inventory is a comprehensive database documenting the approximately 15 million square feet of gross space and 13 million square feet of assignable space in 178 buildings. There are over 44,600 separate rooms listed on the official inventory which is managed through the Archibus space module. The section also maintains the current, official building floor plans in AutoCAD and PDF formats. Please visit the Facility Information Management website for more information.

Space Inventory
FIM conducts various levels of inventory updates to keep current the floor plans, reported functional utilization, and occupancy for all spaces which are either owned or leased by the University. FIM also supports campus-wide efforts to expedite access to past, present and future records related to UIC facilities. FIM conducts a comprehensive space survey each year to capture changes to space layouts, assignments, utilization, usage and other attributes. Please visit the Facility Information Management website for links to Space survey, space data and other resources.
